The Bible and the near-death experience are some of the greatest sources for the revelation of the unconditional love of Jesus Christ. They reveal the critical importance of love in all facets of life and death and they also reveal Christ's true teachings of unconditional love and forgiveness which is sadly absent in many of today's fundamentalist churches. Here are those verses that support the unconditional love of God and that this love is the way to heaven. Everyone who loves goes to heaven "Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God." (1 John 4:7) Love is God "... because God is love." (1 John 4:8) If God is love, then love and God are one and the same. Love is the way to eternal life "On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. '"Teacher," he asked, '"What must I do to inherit eternal life?'" "What is written in the law?" he [Christ] replied. "How do you read it?" He answered: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all you mind, and, love your neighbor as yourself." "You have answered correctly," Jesus replied, "Do this and you will live." (Luke 10:25-28) Love is the way to heaven "Jesus answered them, 'I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'" (John 14:6) No one can come to God except through the Spirit of Christ which is God. The Spirit of Christ is the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is love. Love is what this verse, Christ and true "religion" is all about. Jesus came to show the way to heaven. The way to heaven is love. Refusing to love is the way to hell "They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved." (2 Thess. 2:10) The truth is God and God is love. The Kingdom of heaven is within as Luke 17:20 states. If you have not love on earth, you do not have the Kingdom of heaven within and are already living in hell. Love, being God, is our salvation from a hell of our own making. Love takes away sins "Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins." (1 Peter 4:8) God keeps no record of wrongs "It [love] keeps no record of wrongs." (1 Cor. 13:5) God is love. God loves everyone "For God so loved the world ..." (John 3:16) God loves the whole world. Love is the gospel for the whole world. It was love that held Jesus to the cross - not nails. Salvation is based on God’s love "We love because he [God] first loved us." (1 John 4:19) If you love others, you are going to heaven "We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love our brothers. Anyone who does not love remains in death." (1 John 3:14) If you love others, God lives in you "God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him." (1 John 4:16) If you don’t love others, you don’t know God "Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love." (1 John 4:8) If you don’t love others, you don’t love God "For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen." (1 John 4:20) Love is the sign of a true disciple of Jesus "By this [love] all humanity will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another." (John 13:35) Loving others means loving Jesus "And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love." (2 John 1:6) Love is greater than religious faith "And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love." (1 Cor. 13:13) Faith without actions of love is dead "In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action [such as love], is dead." (James 2:17) Love is greater than speaking in tongues "If I speak in the tongues of humans and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal." (1 Cor. 13:1) Love is greater than knowledge "And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge - that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God." (Eph. 3:19) Love is greater than prophecy "If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing." (1 Cor. 13:2) Without love, you are nothing. Love is greater than martyrdom "If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing." (1 Cor. 13:3) Without love, you gain nothing. Love holds the universe together "He [God] is before all things, and in him all things hold together." (Col. 1:17) God is love. Love is the law of God "Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law." (Rom. 13:10) Love and faith is all that matters "The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love." (Gal. 5:6) An excellent description of love and God "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails." (1 Cor. 13:4-8) Perfect love drives away fear "But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love." (1 John 4:18) Nothing can separate us from God’s love "For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Rom. 8:39) All the verses above describe the unconditional love that is God. This agrees totally with the near-death experience. People having near-death experiences realize the importance of love which is true inner spirituality as opposed to religion which is an outward cultural affiliation. God loves the world unconditionally and this means everyone. This is the identical message of the near-death experience. Biblical proof of near-death experiences -The Apostle Paul had one. It's in the Bible. Christian near-death experiences - Many Christians have seen Christ. Love is God - Love is the Holy Spirit, Jesus, the gospel, the Law, the way to heaven. |
